January 4, 2024
Teeth cleaning/scaling refers to the process of getting rid of all sorts of deposits from the teeth
which includes soft plaque, debris, stains, tartar & hard calculus resulting in healthy, white &
shiny teeth.
A major advantage of the scaling procedure is that it requires no downtime and the patient can
begin with his day to day activities immediately
However, there are a few things to be avoided after scaling. Read on to find out more….
- Avoid eating or drinking anything (other than water) for atleast 45 mins post scaling to
avoid staining of the teeth. - No smoking for the next 2 days post scaling to reduce chances of stains adhering to the teeth.
- As much as possible, avoid eating/drinking anything of extreme cold/hot temperature to prevent sensitivity.
- In case of sensitivity post scaling, use the gel/toothpaste as advised by your dentist. In
case of prolonged sensitivity lasting even a week after the procedure, get in touch with
your dentist.
